Corporate Banking

Corporate bank account opening in the UAE, built to be approved.

UAE banks are careful, and unprepared applications pay the price in weeks lost and outright rejections. Emirax prepares your file the way compliance teams want to read it, and puts it in front of the bank most likely to say yes.

Quick answer

Opening a corporate bank account in the UAE typically takes two to four weeks for a well-prepared application. Approval depends on the business activity, ownership structure, source of funds, and whether at least one signatory holds a UAE residence visa and Emirates ID. Emirax is a channel partner with eight UAE banks, Emirates NBD, ADCB, FAB, Mashreq, ADIB, Emirates Islamic, RAK Bank, and Wio, and matches each client to the bank most likely to approve their profile.

Opening the account is where most UAE setups stall

Getting a trade license is the easy part. The corporate bank account is where founders lose weeks, sometimes months, because UAE banks apply strict anti-money-laundering and know-your-customer checks to every application, and they decline anything they cannot fully understand.

The good news: rejection is rarely about your business being wrong. It is about the application not answering the bank's questions. When your activity, ownership, expected turnover, and source of funds are documented clearly and matched to the right bank, the same business that was declined gets approved.

That is the entire job we do here, turn a nervous, unprepared application into a file a compliance officer can approve with confidence.

How we get you to yes

A four-step method refined across hundreds of UAE bank applications.

01

Profile review

We assess your activity, ownership, expected volumes, and source of funds the way a bank compliance officer would, before any bank sees your name.

02

Bank matching

Different banks favour different profiles. We shortlist the institutions most likely to approve yours, not just the ones everyone applies to.

03

File preparation

Business plan summary, invoices or contracts, CV, and source-of-funds evidence assembled into a file that answers questions before they are asked.

04

Application & follow-up

We submit, track, and respond to every compliance query until the account is open and internet banking is live.

The six reasons applications get declined

Almost every rejection traces back to one of these. We close all six before you submit.

Vague business description

"General trading" tells a compliance officer nothing. We describe what you actually sell, to whom, and how money moves.

Activity mismatch

If your license says consultancy but your invoices say import-export, the bank pauses. We align the story before you apply.

Thin source-of-funds evidence

Banks must see where your opening capital and future revenue come from. We assemble the proof up front.

High-risk ownership chains

Certain nationalities, jurisdictions, or layered structures raise flags. We know which banks are comfortable with which profiles.

Wrong bank for the profile

Applying to a bank that never approves your type of business wastes weeks. Matching is half the battle.

No UAE presence for signatories

A resident signatory with an Emirates ID dramatically improves odds. We plan the visa and the account together.

Documents banks typically request

The exact list varies by bank and profile. Missing items are the single most common cause of delay, so we collect and check everything before submission.

  • Trade license
  • Memorandum of Association (MOA)
  • Passport and visa copies of all shareholders and signatories
  • Emirates ID of signatories
  • Office tenancy contract or Ejari
  • Company profile / business plan summary
  • Six months of personal or existing business bank statements
  • Sample invoices or contracts with clients and suppliers

The UAE banking landscape

We match you to the right kind of bank

There is no single best bank, only the best bank for your business. Here is how the three broad categories differ, and where each one fits.

Leading UAE banks

The large local banks offer the widest branch networks, strong trade-finance tools, and multi-currency accounts. Approval is thorough, and a well-built file is what separates a two-week yes from a two-month back-and-forth.

International banks in the UAE

Global banks with a UAE presence suit companies with cross-border operations or overseas parent structures. Balance requirements are higher, but so is the comfort with international ownership chains.

Digital & business banks

Newer digital-first business banks open accounts faster and with lower minimum balances, a strong fit for freelancers, free-zone startups, and e-commerce founders who bank primarily online.

We maintain working relationships with relationship managers across leading UAE, international, and digital banks. Your application lands on the right desk rather than the bottom of a queue.

Our bank partners

Eight UAE banks. One that fits your business.

Emirax is a channel partner with these UAE banks. Being a partner means our applications land with a named relationship manager rather than the general onboarding queue, and we know each bank's current appetite for different activities, nationalities, and ownership structures.

Emirates NBD

Largest UAE banking group. Strong trade finance and corporate cards.

ADCB

Full-service local bank. Solid choice for mainland LLCs with UAE-resident owners.

FAB (First Abu Dhabi Bank)

Largest bank in the UAE. Well-suited to larger or corporate-parent structures.

Mashreq

Fast digital onboarding through Mashreq NEO Biz for SMEs and free zone companies.

ADIB

Islamic banking. Widely used by mainland trading and services companies.

Emirates Islamic

Sharia-compliant business banking with strong SME support.

RAK Bank

SME-friendly onboarding and lower minimum balances than the tier-1 banks.

Wio

Digital-first business bank. Fast account opening for freelancers and free zone startups.

Opening a UAE corporate bank account as a non-resident

A residence visa and Emirates ID for at least one signatory make bank onboarding much easier, and are effectively expected by most UAE banks. Non-resident applications are possible, but the shortlist is narrower and the file has to be stronger. In practice this means clearer source-of-funds evidence, a well-defined business activity, and a realistic expectation of higher minimum balances. Where a resident signatory is possible, we usually plan the visa alongside the bank application, the combined timeline is often faster than a non-resident-only route.

What minimum balance should you plan for?

Minimum average balance requirements vary by bank and account tier. Digital business accounts and SME-focused banks start lowest; tier-1 UAE banks sit in the middle; international banks with a UAE presence usually require the most. Falling below the minimum typically triggers a monthly fee rather than closure, but the fee compounds month after month, so we factor it into bank matching rather than treating it as a footnote. During the profile review we tell you the current bracket for each bank on your shortlist.

Higher-scrutiny nationalities

Some nationalities face enhanced due diligence, which makes preparation and honest disclosure matter even more. We have a dedicated, no-spin guide for Iranian nationals opening a UAE business bank account, covering residency, source of funds, and realistic bank choice.

Corporate bank account FAQ

Usually because the file raises questions it does not answer: vague activity descriptions, a mismatch between the license activity and the actual business, missing source-of-funds evidence, or higher-risk jurisdictions in the ownership chain. Banks are not rejecting the business, they are rejecting an application they cannot get comfortable with. Preparation removes most of these triggers before submission.
