Most corporate account applications stall over an incomplete file. Here is the full document checklist UAE banks expect, and the extras that actually get you approved.
The single biggest reason a UAE corporate bank account takes longer than it should is a missing or weak document. Banks apply strict know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering checks, and they decide on what they can see. Here is the document checklist to prepare before you apply, and the evidence that turns a slow application into an approved one.
The core documents banks ask for
- Valid trade licence
- Memorandum of Association (and Articles where applicable)
- Passport copies of all shareholders and authorised signatories
- Emirates ID and residence visa of the signatory
- Office tenancy contract or Ejari
- A short company profile or business plan
- Proof of business activity: invoices, contracts, or agreements
Source-of-funds evidence
For both the opening capital and expected turnover, banks want to understand where the money comes from. Personal bank statements, the previous company's statements, salary or dividend records, or sale agreements all help. Preparing this up front is often what separates an approval from a request for more information.
Extra documents, depending on your case
Corporate shareholders need attested company documents. Higher-risk activities or jurisdictions may need extra explanation. Non-resident shareholders usually need a clearer business case and, in most cases, a resident signatory. We tell you exactly what applies to your profile before you apply.
The real test: a file that answers questions before they are asked
A complete document list is the start, but the file also has to tell a clear story: what you sell, to whom, and how money flows. A vague activity description such as general trading tells the compliance team nothing. We prepare the file the way the bank wants to read it, which is why a well-prepared application usually opens in two to four weeks.
Send us your company details and we will give you a tailored document checklist and tell you which bank is most likely to approve you.
