Adding a partner or buying someone out means a formal share transfer. Here is the process, the documents, and what it costs.
Ownership of a UAE company is not changed with a handshake. Whether you are bringing in a partner, buying out a shareholder, or exiting the business, the change has to be documented through a formal share transfer, an amended Memorandum of Association, and the licensing authority's approval. Here is how it works.
When you need a share transfer
- Bringing a new partner or investor into the company
- Buying out an existing shareholder
- Exiting the business or selling your stake
- Reorganising ownership between existing shareholders
The share transfer process
The parties agree terms and sign a share sale or transfer agreement. The Memorandum of Association is amended to reflect the new shareholding and notarised, and the licensing authority approves the change. The licence and shareholder register are then updated. If a corporate entity is becoming a shareholder, its documents usually need attestation, which adds a step.
How much does a share transfer cost?
A standard share transfer starts from around AED 2,500 including our fee, plus notary and authority fees that vary by emirate and whether a corporate shareholder is involved. We publish an indicative breakdown and confirm an exact quote for your situation.
Get the paperwork right
A clean share transfer protects both buyer and seller and keeps banking and visas aligned with the new structure. If the change also affects your activities or capital, that is handled as a company amendment alongside the transfer.
Tell us who is coming in or going out, and we will prepare the agreement, MOA amendment, and approvals, with a fixed quote in AED.
